Adwin: iPad’s Push Creativity

The Ad

This ad by Apple, which first aired during the NFL playoff game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Carolina Panthers the other day, shows just how much Apple wants to push the creative capabilities of their line of iPads. “What will your verse be? Each of us has something to share. A voice, a passion, a perspective. The potential to add a stanza to the world’s story.” – Apple, Your Verse Campaign

The Win

This is definitely another AdWin for Apple. While this ad not only grabs your attention and makes you think, it also does a great job of boasting the iPad’s features without really mentioning them. All too many times in the tech world, ads are competing by stating ours is so much better, or doing a flat out side by side. This “Your Verse” ad of Apple’s is great at stepping out of the norm and making a lasting impression.

To go along with this ad, Apple has also created a “microsite” that allows viewers to see all the different “Verses” depicted in the ad. From “On-the-fly Filmmaking” with New York‑based filmmaker Josh Apter to the LA Kings using them to train players. It goes without saying that this truly depicts a vast array of uses for an iPad as more than just a glorified e-reader and web serving device.

In our book, this is yet another win for Apple and their creative teams.
